Survivor 7 - Finale
Blah Blah Blah - Letters from home.
IC: Not a fair challenge as each of the remaining 4 complete against the jury as a whole in a trivial pursuit contest. The jury wins, leaving the 4 with no immunity. They do the smart thing and oust Darrah because she is clearly dominating at the challenges. Since no one can talk back-woods southern, they don't really have a way to communicate with her anyway.
Back at camp, we are taken to the big ship featured in a former challenge. The final three say something nice about those voted off, except Osten that is, then blow the ship up. Burn baby burn.
Final IC: standing on all fours on a little raft. Sandra is out quickly. Lil and John hang on for over 2 hours and John tries to make a deal, but is denied by Lil. Lil finally wins.
Final TC: Lil gets to go against either John or Sandra in the finals. Everyone hates John so he would be the obvious choice, and Lil chooses Sandra.
Each Jury member asks their questions. Blah blah blah, no Susan Hawk speech here. The votes are taken and then read. Sandra wins.

Survivor 7 - 12
5 left, 3 girls and 2 guys. After watching girls get picked off one by one, will the remaining ones figure out that not all of them, or actually none of them, are in the final two?
First, we hear Sandra's plan to start sabotaging the camp, hiding the fish net, the spear, etc. I for one play games to win, not to make friends, but even I can't understand the logic in what she wants to do. I understood her motive in destroying the fish when Rupert was voted off. I think she wanted to make sure the tribe went hungry and the ones responsible for Rupert would be the next to go, but I am really out there on this one.
OK, RC. This one is second chances, a mini collection of previous challenges. Lil, the Boy Scout, seems to be having problems with compass points and is essentially eliminated right from the start. The others are at least somewhat even, but Burton wins. The Reward is a night in Panama. And you can take a buddy, just as expected. OK, guys are successfully keeping that the top by manipulating the girls, so it is imperative that you keep on that path. Leave Jon at Camp to keep a munitiny at bay, and take a girl with you. I once again remind you, you are here to win $1,000,000, not to make friends or have fun. You have been with Lil on many occasions, and Darrah seems pretty easy to lead, so my advice would be to take Sandra. But no, you have gotten cocky and took Jon. You know what happened to Rupert when he got cocky...
Back at camp, the girls finally recognize they are being manipulated and adopt a plan. When the guys return the next day, Lil perhaps overplays it a little and the guys are suspicious, but that passes.
IC. Walking the plank. Darrah makes an easy win due to her small hands.
TC. Burton is gone, making him the first player in the history of survivor to be voted out TWICE. Good going girls, get Fairplay next!

BTI Electronics
After over 4 years, I once again have a "real" job, working at a senior systems engineer for BTI electronics in Kokomo. Right now I am spending most of my time on an external lighting project for a 2006 GM Vehicle. It looks like a trip to France is in order for 2004.

Survivor 7 - 11
We talked Survivor quite a bit at the HSTPA banquet. apparently, Survivor is a fan favorite among drivers and crew. I really hadn't formed an opinion of Sandra and Christa until last weeks episode. Sandra talked how she would sneak along in the bushes to overhear conversations. That is cool, and gained instant respect from me. I just kind of respect Christa because she is a computer geek like me, and there is just a natural bond there. I also can't tell you how much I really hate John, but I really respect that he had the foresight that he would make it this far in the game and had a plan, just in case. Again, you are not out here trying to make friends, you are trying to win $1,000,000. So, what he did was absolutely despicable, it was also brilliant as a strategy.
OK, all that being said. The girls had the ability to go all the way, and they blew it by not voting out the guys. This week, they could still do it, if they would just stick together. They have to know what is going on. Every single girl has an alliance with either John or Burton and they have to get together and figure out that they way things stand, it will be all guys in the final two.
RC. Ok, what the heck was that, they once again split into tribes for the RC. This is the INDIVIDUAL portion of the game. The importance of this adventure was that it split up John and Burton and that gave them a chance to talk to each of the 4 girls that were left and promise them they would be in the final two.
IC. Darrah wins immunity by being the best at shooting a gun. Even with just Sandra, Christa, and Darrah, they still could take their chances and get rid of a guy, but again, they believe the guys and Sandra is gone. Final 3, Burton, John, and Lil.

HSTPA Banquet
We had our Banquet last Saturday in Indianapolis. We received our trophy for winning HSTPA points and both Stacey and I got jackets. The pull of the year award went to Allen Co (Ft Wayne) for their new pull this year. Emily Schoenemann won Mod Puller of the Year. Congratulations to her. While certainly way underpowered, Emily and he dad were strong supporters of state pulling and only missed one hook all year on both the HSTPA and Wolverine Circuits. She definitely gives the women in the crowd someone to cheer for. The prestigious Woman of the Year award went to Debbie Hart. Debbie works as a clerk at a lot of the events and really supported the club as well. Congratulations to the Hart Family. (Anthony also won the title race in the 6 SS class)
I am now Webmaster for HSTPA and as soon as a few technical details are worked out, look for complete banquet coverage on the HSTPA web site.
