The Pizza Man
We did something a little different last night. Stacey saw a brief notice in the community calendar in the paper that the Kokomo Booster Club was presenting a dinner theater production of "The Pizza Man" for $45 a couple. I had never been to the booster club, but found a review of the play on the internet and it seemed like it would be enjoyable. I don't really know what the Booster Club does, but they host BINGO a few times a week and have a building much like a VFW or Eagles with a large open room for activities.

So we walk in and pay our money and see rows of tables arranged in a star pattern. Each row say probably a dozen people and at the center of the star was a small stage with some battered furniture and minimal props. Hmmm, we thought. I recognized it as theater in the round, but didn't really know how entertaining this would be. Dinner was served buffet style and included a salad bar, roast beef, sweet and sour chicken, veggies, and the like. The food tasted good and certainly did not lack in quantity.

Finally the lights dimmed and one of the actors came out. He introduced himself and then mentioned that one of their leading actresses in this cast of 3 became ill 3 days ago and they just added a new actress. She was still learning lines as she had only had the script for a few days, and as a result would have a script with her on stage. Great, I'm thinking, we are already doubting this production, and now we get a new actress, probably in her first performance, and doesn't even know her lines.

The play starts with the new actress drinking a beer and dancing with only a shirt on to music in her apartment. Now, I am really concerned. But, as the play went on, we find out that all of the cast is really good, it is really funny, has some drama, and ends on a happy note. The new actress only referred to her script occasionally and really it wasn't that noticeable and didn't detract from the play much at all. All of the cast did a great job, and worked well with the audience. You could tell mistakes were made, but they recovered well and that really is the magic of live theater. The theater company, RetroAct, said they will be back in Kokomo in the fall, and I think we will make plans to attend as it was an enjoyable evening.

Cow Photoshop on Fark
Fark runs a couple photoshop contests a day. A picture is presented and numerous farkers use that pictures, or elements of that picture, to create new, often humoeous, pictures. One of yesterdays photoshops contained 2 cows and the results are pretty good. Cow Photoshop

Valvoline Cup
Last year Valvoline open their Valvoline Cup championship up to the pulling world. The championship was across all classes and worked like this. Every pull you attended was eligible for points and you were given points based on you finished. At the end of the year, your top 15 finishes were used to calculate the number of points. The points were assigned a little differently as well. If there were 10 or more competitors, then the winner received 10 points, 2nd place 9, and so on down. If there were only 5 competitors, then the winner got 5, 2nd place got 4, etc. Every pull you attend you are guaranteed at least 1 point (last place or worse than 10th). We finished 3rd Nationally.

That finish netted us a lot of goodies.

First, Valvoline gave us a cash reward in the form of a pre-paid Visa from Bank of America. Lincoln Electric mailed us a nice new Welding Helmet as well as a certificate for $100 a new welder. Titan Oil Analysis provided 3 kits for free oil analysis. Thanks to these companies.
