Way to go Jeff's Bronco Graveyard.
I have a rather high mileage F-150 4X4. I noticed that the brakes didn't seem like they wanted to stop as well as normal. I neglected it for a couple of months because I really don't drive the truck that often and I have been so busy. But, I promised the truck to a buddy and wanted to look at it before he drove to to St. Louis and back. I pulled the left rear drum and absolutely everything inside was wet with axle oil. I knew immediately that the axle seal had failed. I also noticed well over 1/8" of end play in the axle.
I pulled the axles, expecting to find wear on the C-clips or the side gears. However the axles were in perfect shape along with all the hardware. I did some research on the Internet and found the end play should be a maximum of 0.030" and it is the Trac-Lok (Ford's limited slip rear end) that wears and allows the excessive play. Apparently, the end play is what caused the seal to wear out. Again, I jumped on the 'net looking for a Trac-Lok clutch kit and found one a Jeff's Bronco Graveyard for about 1/2 the price of anyone else. I ordered the part online late Sunday night, it shipped form Michigan on Monday and arrived here on Tuesday. The parts are Raybestos, so they are good parts, they dropped right in, and got the truck back on the road in no time. So, an atta-boy for JBG. The seem to carry a full line of Bronco and F-x50 parts. I received a catalog with my order and for common things, like filters and spark plugs, they may be a little bit higher, but they carry everything you could want for restoring or repairing Ford trucks at really good prices. Good job guys.
